Physical Education

All girls take part in an extensive physical education programme at St Christopher’s, taught by fully trained experienced, specialist PE staff.

Lessons are dynamic and vigorous, and cover a breadth of units including gymnastics, dance, yoga, netball, hockey, rounders, football, cross country, swimming, cricket, fitness and athletics.

Year 4-6 girls are all involved in an extensive number of netball, hockey, football, rounders and cricket fixtures across the year. Squads from A-C ensure that every girl is involved and has the opportunity to compete for St Christopher’s.  Whether playing at home under our floodlit, all weather court or away against a varied number of opponents, all girls experience the enjoyment and benefits of competitive fixtures.

In Year 3 they have swimming lessons at Swiss Cottage leisure centre once a week.  We run Inter-house sporting events once a term and the girls get to experience a variety of extra-curricular sporting clubs throughout the year.

St Christopher’s sports day is a highlight of the school year.  Held at the Parliament Hill athletics track, all girls are involved in a full programme of track and field.

Playing sport helps develop teamwork, leadership skills and friendship.  We aim is to develop habits for a lifelong healthy lifestyle, and to boost the girls' self-esteem, confidence and overall love for sport.
