We believe that the best outcomes, both academic and pastoral, are achieved by a strong triangular relationship between parents, pupils and school.
We encourage parents to participate fully in their daughter’s education at St Christopher’s. We hold parent evenings throughout the year, and weekly drop-ins. Parents are regularly invited to attend plays, concerts and assemblies. We host curriculum evenings (every September) and an academic forum for parents to get to know more about what we are teaching, how we are teaching and why… Our parents are even offered the chance to come and teach a lesson themselves, as part of our summer term Special Studies.
Open days are not just for prospective parents, there are many opportunities to pop in for a chat with our Head over coffee or to visit their daughter’s class open mornings.
Around St Christopher’s is an especially joyful annual event, where parents are invited to school to watch performances of music and drama, admire their daughter’s artwork in a whole school exhibition and look through their schoolbooks.
Our PTFA (Parents Teachers and Friends Association) is the backbone of our school community. The PTFA organises many events throughout the year, including a Summer Fair, a Winter Fair, regular bakes sales, a very lively quiz night and an annual golf tournament. The PTFA also manages the collection and sale of second-hand uniform. All funds raised by the PTFA go towards enriching our pupils’ educational provision. In recent years, the PTFA has funded pupil workshops with The Globe Theatre, digital pens, an annual mobile farm visit, and a Victorian dress-up day.
