Alongside classroom activities, the music department offers many opportunities to engage in communal music-making.
The whole school sings together at assembly and every pupil in the school sings in one of three timetabled choirs. A chamber choir is available to girls of Years 5 and 6, by process of audition. Those who play an orchestral instrument can join one of the school orchestras, and additional guitar, ukulele, piano, recorder and wind ensembles provide even more opportunity for music-making. Pupils perform regularly throughout the year in both formal and informal concerts, take part in workshops with visiting guest musicians of which our annual Arensky Chamber Orchestra collaboration is a highlight.
A team of ten professional musicians visits the school to provide over 150 individual instrumental and theory lessons throughout the week. The school also hosts an ABRSM examiner every term.
